Municipality of Ciserano

We publish the speech by Caterina Vitali, Mayor of Ciserano, in Lombardy, where the free hotspots have been activated and in addition to the Municipalities that have joined the WiFi Italia Project.

“The origins of the village are very ancient, it is believed that CISERANO was founded at the time of Julius Caesar: the same toponym -in Latin CAESARANUM or CISERANUM- would indicate the presence in the place of a" Caesarian ". However, there are those who report the birth of the center to the period of the first emperors, referring to the discovery of objects from the imperial era.

The inhabited center developed in the Middle Ages. At that time, the town of Ciserano was also crossed by an important road, later called Strada Francesca which, connecting Milan to Aquileia, characterized the commercial life of the entire area which benefited from it. A few centuries later the same road became the usual route for the barbarian hordes from north-eastern Europe, which brought destruction and terror to the local inhabitants.
This was then refurbished by the Franks, who established the Holy Roman Empire, the birth of feudalism took place which had great development in the Bergamo area.

To enhance our history and our territory, our administration has decided to be part of the Wifi Italia public network - a public and free network - which provides an additional service to citizens that can be connected to the hotspots installed by Infratel Italia ".
