Access to broadband and ultra-broadband services is, in fact, essential for the development and competitiveness of a modern economic system, based on knowledge and the fast and efficient exchange of data and information, and for eliminating the digital divide in underutilised areas of the country.

Through Infratel Italia, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy implements the measures defined in the Strategia Nazionale per la Banda Ultralarga with the aim of helping to reduce the existing infrastructure and market gap by creating favourable conditions for the integrated development of telecommunications infrastructures.

In 2019, Infratel Italia was entrusted with the Piazza Wifi Italia Project for the implementation of free hotspots in all Italian municipalities, continuing the development of the federation of existing public WIFI networks, accessible through the Wifi Italia APP.
