Municipality of Pietrabruna

We publish the speech by Massimo Rosso, Mayor of Pietrabruna, in Liguria, where the free hotspots have been activated and in addition to the Municipalities that have joined the WiFi Italia Project.

“Pietrabruna rises on the slopes of Mount Faudo. Known for various gastronomic specialties such as "Stroscia" and for the skill of the inhabitants who cultivate, next to the olive tree, various species of ornamental greenery and flowers including anemones and - once - also lavender flowers, still present in Boscomare.

The original village was concentrated around the Romanesque church of San Gregorio, in a lower position than the current town. The name Pietrabruna derives from the material used to construct the buildings. There are many slate portals surmounted by bas-reliefs and epigraphs.

The Pietrabruna fiefdom was bought by Porto Maurizio at the end of the 12th century. The porters destroyed its fortifications and built the new village in a higher position, where they founded the new church of San Matteo, now disappeared to make way for the parish, neoclassical, the only one present in the whole valley. We joined the Wifi Italia project which creates a free and public network, thanks to technology, an additional service for citizens and tourists "
